In dearland

Good morning Blogger world before I get carried away on tangents let me just tell you about a record I bought yesterday whilst in Manchester. We were in the record shop and a song was playing, I'd no idea who it was but it was one of those moments where you just kind of stop what you're doing and listen.
I enquired at the counter and it was Elvis Perkins singing from his latest record In Dearland; It's the first time I'd ever heard of this guy but he made an instant connection with me. They also had it on vinyl - my musical medium of choice, so it was a no-brainer, I bought it. With being somewhat busy yesterday I didn't get a chance to play it through; so I took time out this morning whilst making breakfast to give it a spin.
What a wonderful record, perfect for a delicate Sunday morning, to ease you gently into the day - it's something that's needed this morning. I'm finding it difficult to describe him - what the music is like, so to save me even trying I've posted a video of a live in store performance he did somewhere in the United States, check it out.
